The Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) has issued a strict 48-hour notice to the owner of a five-storey building in Jagganath Shah ka Rasta, Ramganj, which has developed a visible tilt and is considered unsafe. The notice, based on a technical inspection report, instructs the owner to safely demolish the structure within the given timeframe.
Immediate Action Required
Kishanpole zone deputy commissioner Bijendra Singh confirmed that the JMC’s technical team submitted its findings, leading to the notice being pasted at the site. Officials warned that if the building is not demolished within 48 hours, the municipal corporation will carry out the demolition and recover all costs from the owner. Additionally, the notice clearly states that any loss of life or property resulting from a delay will be solely the owner’s responsibility.
Precautionary Measures
As a precaution, several nearby houses have been vacated, and movement around the structure has been restricted. Home guards and police personnel are monitoring the area to ensure safety. Residents have expressed relief but also frustration, claiming they had been living in fear for days and had repeatedly demanded action against the dilapidated building.
Public Outcry and Business Impact
On Monday, locals staged a protest outside the Kishanpole zone office, accusing the administration of acting too late despite repeated complaints. The situation has also affected nearby shopkeepers, as several shops remain closed for safety reasons. Traders reported that the closure has significantly impacted their daily income and disrupted normal business activities in the locality.
The JMC’s decisive action aims to prevent any potential disaster and ensure public safety, while holding the building owner accountable for the unsafe structure.
