LDA's Plan to Sell Parking Slots Opposed by Lucknow Residents Association
LDA's Parking Slot Sale Opposed by Lucknow Residents

The Residents Welfare Association (RWA) of Sargam Apartments in Jankipuram, Lucknow, has strongly opposed the Lucknow Development Authority's (LDA) decision to sell 136 open parking slots through a lottery system. The association has demanded the immediate withdrawal of this process.

Memorandum Submitted to LDA Vice-Chairperson

In a formal memorandum submitted to the LDA vice-chairperson, the RWA argued that the housing complex was officially handed over to the residents in July 2025. It emphasized that the open parking area is an integral part of the common facilities and amenities provided to the residents. According to the association, the authority no longer holds the right to sell these spaces as they belong to the community.

Common Area Usage and Concerns

The RWA highlighted that the open area is currently used for community functions, recreational activities, and as a gathering space for residents. They questioned the necessity of additional parking, pointing out that each flat already has allocated basement parking. The association expressed concerns that converting the open area into extensive parking could hinder the movement of emergency vehicles, including fire tenders and ambulances, thereby posing a safety risk.

The residents have urged the LDA to reconsider its decision and maintain the open area for its intended communal purposes. The issue has sparked a debate about the management of common spaces in housing societies and the rights of residents versus development authorities.
