Liquor Found at Buxar Transport Office, DM Orders Probe

Buxar: Taking serious note of the recovery of liquor bottles from the premises of the Buxar District Transport Office (DTO) on May 14, District Magistrate Sahila on Saturday directed the District Transport Officer to submit an explanation within 24 hours.

A joint team, led by the Buxar Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), along with officials from the Town Police Station and the Prohibition Department, conducted a raid at the DTO office. During the raid, several liquor bottles were seized.

Describing the incident as extremely serious, the DM stated that strict action would be taken against anyone found negligent or involved in the matter. The administration has also taken cognizance of an audio clip and video that went viral on social media on May 13, allegedly linked to the transport department.

To verify the allegations, the DM constituted a three-member inquiry committee comprising officials from different departments. The committee has been tasked with conducting a detailed investigation and submitting its report at the earliest.

Meanwhile, former Buxar MLA Sanjay Kumar Tiwari alias Munna Tiwari questioned how liquor bottles could be recovered from a government office despite the prohibition law in the state. In a letter to Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, he demanded a named FIR against the DTO and other officials allegedly involved in the case. He also called for immediate sealing of the room where the bottles were recovered to prevent tampering of evidence and urged authorities to treat CCTV footage from the office as crucial evidence in the investigation.
