Major Fire Breaks Out at Kurla Godown
A significant fire emergency occurred in Mumbai on Thursday evening when a massive blaze erupted at a godown located in the Kismat Nagar area of Kurla West. The incident prompted immediate response from emergency services, with multiple fire tenders rushing to the scene to combat the flames.
Firefighting Operations and Evacuation
According to Mumbai Fire Brigade officials, the department sprang into action immediately after receiving alerts about the fire around 8 pm on Thursday, November 27, 2025. Fire Officer Bapu Sonwane provided crucial details about the emergency response, stating that teams reached the spot promptly upon receiving the alert.
"We saw a huge fire on the second floor when we reached," Sonwane told ANI. "There is a residential area nearby. We evacuated that area. We are working to put out the fire."
The firefighters focused their efforts on containment operations, working strategically to prevent the blaze from spreading to adjoining buildings in the densely populated area. Their prompt action ensured that the fire remained confined to the godown structure.
No Injuries Reported, Cause Under Investigation
In a fortunate development, no injuries have been reported from the incident so far. The precautionary evacuation of nearby residential areas likely contributed to ensuring public safety during the emergency.
Authorities have confirmed that the cause of the fire remains undetermined and is currently under investigation. This incident comes just two days after another major fire at the Shree Rajlaxmi Commercial Complex in Bhiwandi's Kalher area in Thane district, raising concerns about fire safety measures in commercial and storage facilities across the Mumbai metropolitan region.
Both fire incidents are now under detailed investigation by concerned officials. The Mumbai Fire Brigade continues to assess the situation while working to completely extinguish any remaining hotspots at the Kurla godown site.
