The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has integrated its general trade licence (GTL) facility with the property tax portal, effective June 23. This move eliminates the need for traders to use a separate platform for licence-related services, streamlining regulatory compliance for businesses across the capital.
Single platform for licence and tax services
Under the new system, applicants can complete all GTL-related formalities—including new applications and renewals—through the property tax portal. The standalone GTL portal has been discontinued for these purposes. The licence fee is set at 15 per cent of the property tax payable. Once the fee is paid online, the payment receipt generated through the portal itself serves as the GTL, removing the need for additional documentation and approvals.
Impact on traders and businesses
The integration is expected to benefit thousands of traders and business establishments in Delhi by reducing compliance burdens and saving time. According to MCD, the initiative is part of broader efforts to promote ease of doing business, improve transparency, and expand citizen-centric digital services. Officials stated that the move creates a simpler and more user-friendly licensing framework while enhancing the overall digital governance ecosystem.
Feedback and future steps
MCD has invited feedback and suggestions from traders and citizens to further strengthen digital services and foster a more business-friendly environment in the national capital. The civic body emphasized that this integration represents a significant step towards streamlining regulatory procedures and improving service delivery to the business community.
