The Goa State Fire Force Training Centre, operating as a key regional centre for the National Fire Service College (NFSC) in Nagpur, has successfully wrapped up a significant national training programme for fire service officers. This initiative underscores Goa's growing role as a hub for enhancing fire safety and emergency management capabilities across India.
Strengthening the Backbone of Emergency Services
The training, identified as the 5th external station officers and instructor course, saw active participation from 27 trainee officers. These officers were specifically deputed by the NFSC for this intensive programme. The course, which began on July 17, brought together a diverse group of professionals from multiple states and union territories, including Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Haryana, Delhi, and Daman and Diu.
The core objective was to fortify the operational leadership and instructional skills of station officers. These individuals are widely recognized as the backbone of firefighting and emergency response services in their respective regions. Through structured sessions, the curriculum focused on sharpening command capabilities, deepening technical knowledge, and refining modern training methodologies.
Valedictory Ceremony and Call to Action
The concluding ceremony was held at the Goa Regional Training Centre. Nitin V Raiker, the Director of Fire and Emergency Services, presided over the valedictory function and congratulated the officers on their successful completion of the rigorous course.
In his address, Raiker emphasized the importance of knowledge sharing. He urged the newly trained officers to disseminate the acquired knowledge and best practices among their peers upon returning to their home departments. This step is crucial for creating a multiplier effect and elevating standards nationwide.
The event was attended by senior officials from the Goa fire department, including Bosco Ferrao, the Assistant Divisional Officer of the North Zone, and Tina Kuttikar, the Assistant Accounts Officer.
Goa's Role as a National Training Hub
This programme highlights the strategic importance of the Goa State Fire Force Training Centre. Functioning under the auspices of the Ministry of Home Affairs via the NFSC, the centre serves as a vital regional hub for advanced fire service education.
The officers who train here are expected to play a critical role in upgrading fire safety standards and emergency preparedness in their home states. By investing in such high-level training, the initiative aims to build a more resilient and professionally equipped national fire service network, capable of handling complex emergencies with greater efficiency.
