The Ludhiana Commissionerate Police have announced the recovery of over Rs 1.7 crore from two immigration agents who were booked by the Model Town police in September 2024.

Details of the Recovery

Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma stated that the recovered amount of Rs 1,07,86,594 included Rs 70,77,910 which was distributed among 11 claimants who appeared before the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (East). The remaining funds will be returned to six other claimants.

Suspects Identified

The suspects have been identified as Amit Malhotra and Veenu Malhotra, both residents of Ludhiana. They were booked on September 4, 2024, following a complaint. The local court directed the police to return the recovered money to its lawful owners.

ACP Sarabjit Singh represented the local police during the distribution process. Commissioner Sharma emphasized the commitment of the police to ensure justice for victims of immigration fraud.
