SG Highway Diversion Extended Till May 31

The traffic diversion on Ahmedabad's SG Highway between Karnavati Club and YMCA Club has been extended until May 31 due to ongoing flyover construction. The Ahmedabad Traffic Police issued a notification confirming the extension, citing the need to complete remaining spans and ramp work of the elevated corridor.

Background of the Diversion

According to the traffic police, the National Highway Division had initially received approval for a six-month traffic diversion plan on July 21, 2025, to facilitate girder launching work after the completion of bridge pillars. However, considering the request of the executive engineer, the diversion period has now been extended to allow for the completion of the remaining work.

Alternate Routes for Commuters

Small and heavy vehicles coming from Sanand and Sarkhej towards YMCA Club will have to follow a designated alternate route. They must take a left turn near YMCA Club, proceed towards Bhagwan Circle, then turn right towards Zaveri Circle, continue via Chakri Circle, and again turn right towards Karnavati Club to rejoin SG Highway and move towards their destinations.

Commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and allow for extra travel time due to the ongoing construction.

IPL Match Day Traffic Arrangements

Meanwhile, for the Sunday IPL match, the city traffic police has issued a separate notification. Due to local body elections, the road from Janpath T to Motera Stadium's main gate via Krupa Residency T junction to Motera Gam T junction will remain open for traffic on Sunday. This is to ensure smooth movement for spectators and residents.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to follow traffic advisories and use alternative routes where possible to avoid congestion.
