Guwahati: Three youths lost their lives in two separate road accidents that occurred in the city's Basistha and Garchuk areas on Saturday night. Both localities are situated along the highway stretch, contributing to the severity of the incidents.

Basistha Accident Claims Two Lives

The accident in Basistha claimed the lives of two individuals. According to police, the deceased have been identified as Sahil Ahmed and Ayan Ahmed, both residents of Guwahati. Basistha Traffic IC Sukanta Dey stated, "Both were traveling from Khanapara towards the Jalukbari area. The accident occurred when they took the Basistha flyover. They were in a four-wheeler when a speeding vehicle hit them. The impact was severe, causing extensive damage to the vehicle. An investigation is ongoing." Both victims died while being rushed to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital.

Garchuk Accident Leaves One Dead

Another accident took place late Saturday night in the Garchuk area. A traffic police officer from Garchuk Police Station reported, "The accident happened when a motorcycle and a scooter collided on the Garchuk–Pamohi Road. Two persons sustained grievous injuries and were rushed to the hospital. However, one succumbed to injuries on the way, while the other is undergoing treatment." The deceased has been identified as Bikash Rabha, a resident of the Pamohi area. Officials are investigating the direction of travel of the two-wheelers at the time of the collision.
