The Thiruvananthapuram city corporation is set to organize a large-scale public grievance redressal programme titled 'Mayor Janasamaksham' in June, aiming to directly address civic complaints from residents across the state capital. According to an official communication from the corporation, the programme will be conducted on June 11, 12, 15, and 16. As part of this initiative, the city will be divided into four separate zones to ensure broader public participation and easier access for residents seeking solutions to civic issues.
Leadership and Participation
The programme will be led by Mayor V V Rajesh and attended by Deputy Mayor G S Asha Nath, standing committee chairpersons, councillors, the corporation secretary, and senior civic officials. Residents will have the opportunity to directly present complaints and petitions before the civic leadership during interactive sessions.
Objectives and Expected Outcomes
Corporation officials stated that the initiative is intended to enhance public engagement and expedite the resolution of long-pending civic grievances related to waste management, road maintenance, street lighting, water supply, and other urban infrastructure issues. The civic body is expected to announce venue details and the zonal schedule shortly. Officials emphasized that the programme would help strengthen coordination between residents and the corporation administration while ensuring quicker follow-up action on complaints received during the sessions.
This programme reflects the corporation's commitment to improving service delivery and fostering transparent governance. By bringing civic leadership directly to the people, 'Mayor Janasamaksham' aims to create a more responsive and accountable urban administration in Thiruvananthapuram.
