Varanasi: Two construction workers were discovered dead in an under-construction house in Baniyapur village under Cholapur police station on Thursday morning. The deceased have been identified as Abhijit Ganguli, 47, a resident of Baniyapur Cholapur, and Nihal Singh, 40, a resident of Jaunpur.
Details of the Incident
According to police, the duo worked at the construction site and had been living in the under-constructed building for some time. The body of one deceased was found inside a room, while the other body was located in a toilet. Sulphas pills (a pesticide) and liquor bottles were also found near both bodies, raising suspicions of suicide, police said.
Evidence and Investigation
Police reported that both victims had vomited before their deaths. Blood stains were also found near one body, and authorities are trying to determine whether both committed suicide or if one killed the other before taking their own life.
DCP Varuna zone Pramod Kumar stated that the family of one of the deceased alerted the police, prompting officers to reach the site. After collecting evidence with the help of a forensic team, the bodies were sent for post-mortem examination.
The DCP added that CCTV cameras from nearby areas are being checked to clarify whether any other person was involved in this incident.
Background of the Victims
Abhijit Ganguli was a local resident of Baniyapur Cholapur, while Nihal Singh hailed from Jaunpur. Both were employed as construction workers at the site.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths, with further updates expected after post-mortem reports and forensic analysis.
