A 20-year-old woman, who had been married for only a month, allegedly died by suicide following a heated argument with her husband over golgappas late on Wednesday night. The tragic incident took place at Vidhayak Mohalla under the Pratappur police station limits in Chatra district, Jharkhand.
Details of the Incident
The deceased has been identified as Naina Praveen, a resident of Bakaspura in Hazaribag district. She married Mohammad Gulzar barely a month ago. According to family members and police, the couple argued on Wednesday evening about going out to eat golgappas. Following the altercation, Naina reportedly went into her room and locked the door from inside.
When she did not respond for an extended period, family members grew suspicious and broke open the door around 11 pm. They found her hanging from a ceiling fan using a dupatta. The police were immediately informed, and officers reached the spot to investigate.
Police Action and Investigation
The body was sent to Chatra Sadar Hospital for postmortem examination. Mohammad Gulzar has been detained and was being questioned on Thursday. Alok Ranjan Choudhary, officer-in-charge of Pratappur police station, stated, “The matter is under investigation. Further legal action will be initiated after the deceased’s family files a written complaint.”
