Pune City and Pimpri Chinchwad police have mobilized a massive security force for the upcoming civic elections. A total of nearly 21,000 personnel will ensure smooth polling on Thursday. This deployment includes police officers, constables, home guards, and State Reserve Police Force companies.
Comprehensive Security Plan for Pune
The Pune City Police contingent features 14 Deputy Commissioners of Police and 37 Assistant Commissioners of Police. It also includes 166 Police Inspectors and 723 Assistant Inspectors and Sub Inspectors. Constables number 12,500, with 3,250 Home Guards providing additional support. Four SRPF companies contribute 400 personnel to the effort.

Pimpri Chinchwad Police Deployment Details
Pimpri Chinchwad police have assembled their own substantial force. It includes one Joint Commissioner of Police and two Additional Commissioners of Police. Eight Deputy Commissioners of Police and 18 Assistant Commissioners of Police will oversee operations.
The contingent further comprises 50 Police Inspectors and 241 Assistant Inspectors and Sub Inspectors. Constables total 3,750, with SRPF units adding 260 personnel. Police identified 10 sensitive locations within this jurisdiction. The overall deployment for Pimpri Chinchwad police stands at 4,330 officers and personnel.
Preventive Actions Before Elections
Both police jurisdictions implemented preventive measures in the election run-up. They targeted illegal activities like liquor businesses and narcotics trade. During the Model Code of Conduct period, Pune police seized Rs 67 lakh in cash. Pimpri Chinchwad police confiscated Rs 16 lakh during the same timeframe.
Police conducted route marches through sensitive locations to deter trouble. They also took preventive action against multiple history-sheeters. These steps aim to maintain law and order before polling begins.

Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey expressed confidence in the arrangements. He stated that police and election machinery stand fully prepared for peaceful elections. The PMC and PCMC elections represent significant civic polls in Maharashtra. Voting occurs on Thursday, with counting scheduled for Friday.
