In a tragic incident in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj district, four members of a family were discovered dead under suspicious circumstances on Wednesday. Police have launched a thorough investigation, suspecting foul play and exploring multiple leads, including internal family disputes and possible criminal connections.
Recovery of Bodies
According to police officials, the bodies were recovered from two separate locations associated with the family. Prayagraj Additional Police Commissioner Ajay Pal Sharma informed reporters that the initial discovery involved three bodies at a residence in South Malaka. The deceased were identified as Virendra Vaish, his wife, and their daughter. Later, another male body, believed to be their son Abhishek, was found in a locked vacant shop owned by the family.
Family Background and Suspects
Police revealed that another son of the deceased, Ashwini Vaish, is currently imprisoned in Kaushambi Jail on fraud charges. Officials noted that there were tensions between the two sons, both of whom have criminal histories. This angle is being actively investigated as part of the probe.
Crime Scene Evidence
A key piece of evidence emerged from the crime scene: a message written on a wall reading 'Bunti Babli aur bahu ne maara', which translates to 'Bunti, Babli, and daughter-in-law killed'. This message is being treated as a crucial clue. Police have deployed multiple teams to examine CCTV footage and collect forensic evidence, including fingerprints.
Additional Commissioner Sharma stated, 'The forensic team is examining fingerprints and other evidence, and five teams have been deployed to review CCTV footage for further clues.'
Preliminary Investigation Findings
Initial findings suggest that the victims may have been killed using a heavy object, though investigators have not ruled out other possibilities. 'Initial investigations suggest the family was killed with a heavy object, and our teams are still investigating,' Sharma added. The residence and shop premises were found locked at the time of inspection and have been thoroughly searched.
Police are also looking into internal family tensions and the criminal activities of both sons as part of the ongoing probe. 'There were tensions between the two sons, and both of them have been involved in criminal activities, and we are investigating even through this angle,' officials said.
