Ludhiana: The arrest of Punjab Cabinet minister Sanjeev Arora by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Chandigarh has sparked strong reactions from local Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, who claim that central agencies are being weaponized for political gains ahead of upcoming elections.
AAP Leaders Condemn Arrest
Jatinder Khangura, President of AAP’s Ludhiana Urban unit, expressed shock over the repeated raids at Arora’s residence. “It is surprising that the BJP has conducted raids at the house of an honest minister like Sanjeev Arora for the third time. The real reason behind his arrest is now clear—the BJP can stoop to any level as part of its ‘Operation Lotus’ agenda,” Khangura stated.
Allegations of Political Vendetta
Khangura further alleged that the BJP is using the ED and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as tools to target political opponents. “Today, Punjab witnessed a live example of how central agencies are being misused. The arrest of Sanjeev Arora is a clear case of political vendetta,” he added.
The AAP leaders have vowed to challenge the arrest legally and politically, accusing the central government of undermining federal principles. The development has intensified the political climate in Punjab, with both parties exchanging barbs over the misuse of power.
