In a significant announcement aimed at boosting industrial growth, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis declared the state government's active steps to include Ahilyanagar within the prestigious National Defence Corridor. The move is projected to attract substantial industrial investments and generate a wave of employment opportunities for the local populace.
Development Vision for Ahilyanagar
Addressing a public gathering in Ahilyanagar city ahead of the civic body elections scheduled for January 15, CM Fadnavis outlined the government's commitment to urban development and job creation. "The government is committed to developing cities and generating employment. As part of this vision, efforts are on to bring Ahilyanagar under the National Defence Corridor," he stated. He emphasized that the corridor would act as a catalyst, encouraging investments, creating jobs for local youth, and accelerating the city's overall development trajectory.
Addressing Land Ownership Issues
During his address, the Chief Minister also tackled a long-pending issue concerning residents of Ahilyanagar. He assured members of the Sindhi and Punjabi communities settled in local colonies that their land ownership concerns are being resolved. "A decision has already been taken to convert the land of displaced Sindhi and Punjabi families into freehold property," Fadnavis said. He confirmed that administrative steps are being expedited to ensure these communities benefit from this decision at the earliest possible date.
A Focus Solely on Development
Reiterating his administration's development-centric approach, Fadnavis mentioned that he had consciously avoided criticising political opponents. "My agenda is only development. We want Ahilyanagar to emerge as a developed city," he asserted. He credited the period after 2014, when the BJP-led government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed power at the Centre, for enabling cities to receive substantial funds for development projects. Concluding on a forward-looking note, the CM added that if elected, the BJP-NCP-led local body, with the sustained support of the state and central governments, would be instrumental in bringing significant and transformative development to Ahilyanagar.
