AIADMK Intensifies Youth Outreach by Targeting Ajith Kumar's Fan Base in Coimbatore
In a strategic political maneuver, the AIADMK has initiated a targeted campaign to court supporters of popular actor Ajith Kumar in Coimbatore. This move is part of a broader effort to consolidate the youth vote, which party leaders fear could gravitate towards the newly formed Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) led by actor Vijay.
Velumani's Emotional Appeal to Ajith Fans
Former minister and senior AIADMK leader S P Velumani recently conducted an interactive session with a group of Ajith Kumar enthusiasts during a campaign event in Selvapuram, located within the Thondamuthur constituency. During this engagement, Velumani made a heartfelt plea, invoking the deep mutual respect shared between the late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and the actor.
"It is well known that Ajith had immense respect for our leader 'Amma'. In the spirit of that mutual admiration, we urge his fans to recognise the visionary work done during her tenure and cast their votes for the AIADMK," Velumani emphasized to the assembled fans.
Countering TVK's Influence and Unifying Opposition Votes
This outreach is widely perceived as a calculated attempt to tap into Ajith Kumar's highly organized and influential fan network, which holds considerable sway over first-time and young voters in the Coimbatore region. Addressing the evolving political dynamics and the emergence of new contenders like Vijay's TVK, Velumani issued clear directives to party cadres.
"Not a single vote should be diverted to the TVK. Every anti-DMK vote and the crucial minority votes must be consolidated under the AIADMK banner to ensure a decisive victory," he instructed party workers.

To further strengthen this initiative, Velumani directed party members to initiate discussions within their own households. He emphasized the importance of educating their children and the younger generation about the numerous welfare schemes and infrastructure projects implemented during the AIADMK's governance.
The party's overarching objective is to bridge the generational divide, reclaim its traditional stronghold in Coimbatore, and effectively neutralize the influence of its primary rival, the DMK.
