AIDEF Raises Employee Issues at National Council Meeting

Several issues concerning Ordnance Factory employees were raised by the All India Defence Employees Federation (AIDEF) at a National Council (JCM) meeting held on Monday under the chairmanship of the cabinet secretary.

Deemed Deputation Status Demanded

At the meeting, AIDEF demanded early issuance of a gazette notification granting employees “Deemed Deputation Status” until retirement. The cabinet secretary assured that the necessary recommendations in this regard were already sent to the government and the process for a positive decision was underway.

Assurance on Service Conditions

AIDEF representative Comrade Shreekumar, briefing at the meeting, stated that during the course of a case filed in the Madras High Court, the Central government clarified in writing that no changes would be made to any employee’s service conditions without their consent. He said Ordnance Factory employees had already communicated in writing that they did not wish for any change in their current service conditions and wished to continue serving as government employees.
