Protest Against Education Policies
The All India Student Association (AISA) and the Revolutionary Youth Association on Wednesday called for road blockades across Jharkhand to protest against the clustering of colleges in state universities, the NEET paper leak, and alleged irregularities in the CBSE’s on-screen marking system for the recently concluded board exams.
Addressing media at the CPI-ML office, AISA state secretary Trilokinath alleged that the recent state government resolution on clustering and restructuring state universities would lead to privatization of education. He claimed there would be massive cuts in teaching and non-teaching staff in universities and colleges, and the number of seats in educational institutions would also decrease.
Trilokinath further stated that the policy would adversely impact students from deprived sections of society and women, potentially increasing dropout rates. AISA district president Vijay Kumar argued that promoting vocational and self-finance courses in place of regular ones would increase the financial burden on students.
Ranchi district secretary Sanjana Mehta noted that the NEET question paper leaks have heightened mental, financial, and social pressure on aspirants and their parents.
