Amit Shah Accuses TMC of Rs 5,000 Crore Scam in Bengal

Amit Shah Levels Serious Corruption Allegations Against Trinamool Congress in Bengal

Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on the Trinamool Congress (TMC) during a series of election rallies in West Bengal on Monday, accusing the ruling party of embezzling more than Rs 5,000 crore through multiple scams. Speaking at a rally in Mayureswar, Birbhum, Shah promised to make TMC leaders accountable for "every penny" allegedly looted from the people of Bengal.

Vows to Recover Embezzled Funds for Welfare Schemes

"Those who have embezzled more than Rs 5,000 crore from scams will not go scot-free. They will have to return the money they took from people," Shah declared emphatically. He highlighted that the siphoned-off funds could have easily financed numerous welfare schemes for the state's development and public benefit.

Addressing three rallies throughout the day—from Mayureswar and Khairasol in Birbhum to Andal in West Burdwan—Shah directly targeted Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee. He specifically linked them to alleged syndicate operations that reportedly take cuts from various construction materials supplies.

Alleges Syndicate Network Connected to TMC Leadership

"Syndicate takes a cut, whether it is a supply of bricks or a bag of cement. The entire money is routed to Didi-Bhaipo's syndicate," Shah stated at the Mayureswar rally. He referenced last year's CBI searches at a cooperative bank in Suri, which were conducted in connection with investigations into fake accounts allegedly used to launder money from illegal trades.

The Union Home Minister also addressed political developments, distancing the BJP from Humayun Kabir while accusing TMC of practicing appeasement politics by associating with him. "Humayun Kabir is Mamata Banerjee's man. He wants to build a Babri masjid in Bengal. BJP will never allow that," Shah asserted, further accusing Mamata Banerjee of opposing the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Promises Investigation into Communal Incidents

Shah raised concerns about riots and attacks on Ram Navami processions in the state, promising thorough investigations. "Didi has threatened the majority community. How can Trinamool threaten us?" he questioned, vowing to investigate each case of riots occurring between 2016 and 2026 if BJP comes to power in Bengal.

The Home Minister also criticized the state government's refusal to allocate 600 acres to the Border Security Force (BSF) for fencing along the India-Bangladesh border. "The infiltrators should leave the country before May 5 evening. Their time has come to an end," he warned sternly.

Assures Free and Fair Elections with Strong Warning

Shah assured voters that the Election Commission would ensure free and fair polls in Bengal, issuing a clear warning to what he described as "Trinamool's goons" to "stay indoors" on April 23, the first day of polling. He sounded a caution to "Trinamool's musclemen," stating that a "BJP government in the state will put each one behind bars after May 5."

Encouraging voters to support BJP, Shah asked people to "look for the lotus symbol on the EVM machine and press the button," assuring them of "freedom from jungleraaj" (lawlessness). He reiterated that Mamata Banerjee would likely "play the victim card" and warned voters not to get "deceived by her theatrics."

Announces Rehabilitation Packages for Displaced Communities

In a significant announcement, Shah promised a comprehensive "rehabilitation package" for "nearly 21,000 people displaced in Deucha-Pachami," the proposed mining zone, and "29,000 families relocated under the Raniganj Master plan" in subsidence-prone areas. This commitment addresses long-standing concerns of displaced communities in the region.

The Union Home Minister's speeches marked a forceful escalation in BJP's campaign rhetoric ahead of the Bengal elections, combining corruption allegations with promises of accountability, security, and development for the state's residents.
