Bengaluru Bus Strike Called from May 20 Over Wage Demands
Bengaluru Bus Strike from May 20 Over Wage Demands

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of employee unions representing state-run road transport corporations has declared an indefinite bus strike starting May 20. This decision stems from unresolved issues concerning salary arrears and wage revision, according to a statement released by the JAC.

Key Demands and Government Actions

The JAC strongly criticized the state government's decision to restrict arrear payments to 26 months instead of the demanded 38 months, labeling it as unilateral and unacceptable. Additionally, the unions oppose the implementation of the revised pay scale from April 1, 2025, rather than the originally requested date of January 1, 2024. They argue that the 15-month delay in wage revision is unjust and detrimental to employees.

Union's Stance

The unions are demanding a 25% salary hike. They claim that repeated appeals to the government have been ignored, leaving them with no choice but to resort to an indefinite strike. The JAC emphasized that the strike will continue until their demands are met.
