Bihar Chief Minister's Relief Fund Board Approves Major Welfare Expenditures
The 24th meeting of the Board of Trustees for the Chief Minister's Relief Fund was convened at Sankalp Sabhagar, located at 1 Anne Marg in Patna, on Monday. Chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the session resulted in the approval of significant financial allocations aimed at providing crucial assistance to various affected groups across the state.
Ex Gratia Assistance for Accident Victims and Disaster-Affected Families
The board sanctioned a substantial amount of Rs 4.70 crore specifically for ex gratia payments. This fund has been designated to support the dependents of 89 individuals from Bihar who tragically lost their lives in accidents occurring outside the state. Additionally, the assistance extends to 41 persons who were seriously injured in such mishaps. Furthermore, the allocation includes financial aid for the families of 72 people who perished in various disasters within Bihar's borders.
Support for Flood Relief Camp Inhabitants and Child Labor Rehabilitation
In a move to address immediate humanitarian needs, the trustees approved Rs 38.19 lakh to cover expenses related to children born in flood relief camps. This allocation also encompasses the procurement of essential items such as utensils, clothing, and other necessities for individuals residing in these temporary shelters.
Demonstrating a commitment to social welfare, the board further sanctioned Rs 86 lakh to the Labour Resources Department. This funding is earmarked for the rehabilitation of adolescents, aged between 14 and 18 years, who have been rescued from child labor. The amount has been approved at a rate of Rs 25,000 per adolescent, with the disbursement being managed directly from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.
Comprehensive Discussions and Ministerial Presence
During the meeting, a detailed discussion was conducted on various operational and policy matters concerning the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar issued necessary directives to the concerned officials to ensure efficient fund management and timely assistance delivery. The gathering was also attended by Disaster Management Minister Narayan Prasad, highlighting the government's coordinated approach to relief efforts.
Addressing the board members, Kumar emphasized the fund's pivotal role in providing relief during disasters and for other welfare purposes. He reiterated that the Chief Minister's Relief Fund serves as a critical mechanism for extending support to those in dire need, reinforcing the state's commitment to social security and humanitarian aid.
