The Central Selection Board of Constables (CSBC) has taken a major step forward in the recruitment drive for driver constables in the Bihar Police and Bihar Special Armed Police. The Board has officially declared the results of the written examination, paving the way for the next crucial stage.
Key Figures and Selection Breakdown
In a significant announcement made on Tuesday, the CSBC revealed that a total of 15,516 candidates have been selected to proceed to the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). This next phase is part of the ongoing recruitment process for 4,361 available posts. The list of successful candidates, meticulously prepared following state reservation guidelines, has been published on the official CSBC website for public access.
A detailed analysis of the selected candidates shows a diverse group. Among the qualifiers, 15,054 are male, 461 are female, and 1 is a transgender candidate. The list also includes special categories, with 86 candidates from the Gorkha community and 101 dependents of freedom fighters making the cut.
The Recruitment Journey: From Application to Evaluation
The recruitment process, which was initially announced back in July 2025, witnessed an overwhelming response from job seekers across the state. The CSBC received a staggering 164,168 valid applications for the coveted driver constable positions. The written examination was subsequently conducted on December 10, 2025, where 116,534 candidates appeared to prove their mettle.
The evaluation process was rigorous. During the scrutiny of answer sheets, the Board identified 18 candidates who were declared ineligible. This decision was based on serious grounds including examination malpractice, involvement in FIRs, or incorrect marking of roll numbers on their answer sheets.
Next Steps and Official Advisory
With the written exam results now public, the focus shifts to the Physical Efficiency Test. According to an official statement released by the CSBC, the PET for the shortlisted 15,516 candidates is scheduled to begin from March 2026 onwards. The Board has clarified that the detailed schedule, including specific dates and test venues, will be announced separately on its official website in due course.
The CSBC has issued a strong advisory to all candidates, reiterating that all official communications will be made exclusively through the CSBC website. Officials have warned aspirants to be vigilant against fraud. "Candidates are advised not to respond to any unsolicited phone calls or messages claiming to be from Board officials," the statement read. It further urged them to report any such suspicious incidents immediately to the nearest cybercrime police station.
Emphasising its commitment to a clean and transparent process, the CSBC stated that the entire selection mechanism is designed to be fair and free from any malpractice. The final selection of candidates will be based purely on merit and their performance in the subsequent stages of the recruitment drive.
