BJP Accuses Jharkhand DGP of Illegal Mining Nexus

In a dramatic political development that has rocked Jharkhand's political landscape, State BJP president Babulal Marandi leveled serious corruption allegations against Director General of Police Anurag Gupta on Thursday.

Serious Allegations Against Top Cop

Babulal Marandi directly accused DGP Anurag Gupta of maintaining close connections with criminal elements and claimed his appointment to the state's top police position was strategically engineered. According to the BJP leader, this appointment was made to facilitate the operation of what he described as an extensive black money empire.

The alleged illegal operations generating this black money involve multiple sectors including unauthorized sand mining, illegal coal extraction, stone mining operations, and the liquor trade. Marandi didn't mince words while making these explosive claims that have sent shockwaves through the state's administrative and political circles.

Political Battle Over Key Projects

Marandi further elaborated that the illegal appointment of Gupta as DGP was executed by the Hemant Soren government on what he characterized as a "give-and-take basis." The BJP president connected this appointment to a broader struggle for control over significant infrastructure projects and organizational influence.

"The entire matter is related to the fight for dominance over the Bharat Mala Project and Sujit Sinha's connection with Koylanchal Shanti Samiti," Marandi stated during his press conference. He painted a picture of an elaborate network designed to profit through various illegal means.

JMM's Sharp Rebuttal

The ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) was quick to dismiss the allegations as completely baseless and politically motivated. JMM spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya responded with sarcasm, suggesting that Babulal Marandi's "investigative skills" qualified him for higher intelligence positions.

"We think, Babulal Ji should be made RAW chief now. Only he can make such so-called exposures," Bhattacharya remarked, clearly indicating the party's position that the allegations were without merit and represented political point-scoring rather than genuine concerns.

Marandi had detailed his claims further, explaining that "This entire game is linked to a plan to create a large network through petty tenders, stone chips, land brokerage, and other illegal businesses." The allegations come at a sensitive time in Jharkhand politics, with both major parties positioning themselves for upcoming political battles.
