Hyderabad: Telangana BJP chief N Ramchander Rao on Monday alleged that the moment the BJP launched its Rythu Bharosa Yatra, the Congress government began a misinformation campaign, boasting about having completed all grain procurements. During this yatra, he engaged with farmers in a face-to-face interaction after visiting the procurement centre in Parigi.
Rao Criticizes Government Negligence
“It’s truly lamentable that due to the state government’s negligence, the grain procurement centres lack proper facilities, pushing farmers into distress and making them resort to extreme measures,” he stated. Rao pointed out that the reality on the ground is starkly different.
Allegations of Showmanship
“Aware of the BJP team’s visit, the government hurriedly brought in gunny bags overnight to pack the grain,” he claimed. However, he noted, “There are still no trucks or tractors available to transport this grain. They are merely putting on a show without providing proper transport facilities.”
Conspiracy Against Farmers
He alleged that “a serious conspiracy is afoot to keep farmers in distress, prompting them to sell their crops for less than the Minimum Support Price (MSP) set by the Central government.” Rao stated that the state government appears to be acting with malicious intent, benefiting middlemen, private traders, and millers at the farmers’ expense.
BJP’s Commitment to Farmers
Rao praised the BJP MPs, MLAs, MLCs, and party workers who actively participated in the ‘Rythu Gosa – BJP Bharosa’ yatra, standing up for farmers’ rights. “We are committed to urging the government to procure every last grain. The BJP will continue fighting until full justice is delivered to our farmers,” the BJP chief asserted.
“We stand firmly by our farmers; no one should ever feel driven to suicide. We’ve come here to witness the struggles of our farmers, enduring the sweltering heat at procurement centres, and to offer them support and hope,” Rao stated.
