BJP Forms Panel to Draft Tamil Nadu Election Manifesto

The Tamil Nadu unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took a significant step on Sunday. They formed a 13-member committee to draft the party's election manifesto for the upcoming polls.

Key Leadership for Manifesto Panel

Former state BJP president Tamilisai Soundararajan will head this important panel. Her experience is expected to guide the committee's work effectively.

Committee Members and Their Roles

The committee includes several prominent BJP leaders from Tamil Nadu. State vice-president V P Duraisamy brings his organizational skills to the table. General secretary Rama Sreenivasan adds her expertise in party affairs.

National executive committee member C Narasimhan and state spokesperson A N S Prasad are also part of this group. Their diverse perspectives will help shape a comprehensive manifesto.

Parallel Political Developments

Meanwhile, state BJP president Nainar Nagenthran traveled to New Delhi on Sunday. He is participating in the party's internal selection process for the next national president.

BJP working president Nitin Nabin is likely to be elected unopposed to this post on January 20. This indicates smooth internal transitions within the party.

Preparations for Prime Minister's Visit

Nainar Nagenthran is also expected to brief the central leadership on arrangements for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit. The Prime Minister will visit Chengalpet on January 23.

This visit marks the formal launch of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) election campaign in Tamil Nadu. It signals the beginning of intense political activity in the state.

Questions on Alliance Expansion

When asked about potential expansion of the NDA in Tamil Nadu, Nainar Nagenthran remained evasive. Journalists specifically inquired about including T T V Dhinakaran in the alliance.

He responded by saying people would get answers to this question on January 23. He gave an identical response when questioned about the prospects of the DMDK joining the NDA.

This suggests that significant alliance announcements might be made during the Prime Minister's visit. Political observers are watching these developments closely.

The formation of the manifesto committee shows the BJP is preparing systematically for the Tamil Nadu elections. With the Prime Minister's visit approaching, political activity in the state is set to increase dramatically.
