BJP Installs Daksha Patel as First Vapi Mayor

In a significant move following last month's civic elections, the newly formed Vapi Municipal Corporation (VMC) has announced its first set of office-bearers. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which secured a clear majority in the 52-member house, has installed Daksha Patel as the mayor and taken charge of all top positions.

Key Appointments

Daksha Patel has been appointed as the mayor, while Mitesh Desai will serve as the deputy mayor. Satish Patel has been named chairman of the standing committee, marking the formal constitution of the civic body's leadership. Dharmesh Patel will act as the leader of the ruling party, and Sunita Tiwari has been designated as the chief whip.

On the opposition side, Congress councillor Pir Mohommad Makrani has been appointed as the leader of opposition.

Electoral Background

The VMC comprises 52 seats, with the BJP winning 37 in the elections. The Congress secured 11 seats, while four independents were elected. With a comfortable majority, the BJP has taken control of key administrative and political positions, setting the stage for governance in the corporation's first term.

Profiles of Key Leaders

Satish Patel, an industrialist, currently heads the Vapi Industries Association and previously served as the Vapi BJP president. Deputy Mayor Mitesh Desai has also served as the Vapi BJP president and earlier held the post of working committee chairman in the Vapi municipality.

These appointments are expected to streamline the functioning of the newly formed corporation and address the developmental needs of Vapi.
