BJP Accuses Congress of Delaying Metro Phase-2 and IRFC Loan
Hyderabad: BJP Telangana president N Ramchander Rao has strongly criticized the Congress government, accusing it of being responsible for the delay in the Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC) loan disbursement and the Metro Phase-2 project. He claimed that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is spreading lies and misleading the public.
Speaking to the media at the BJP headquarters on Wednesday, Rao termed it absurd that CM Revanth Reddy wrote a letter to Union Minister G Kishan Reddy seeking help to get an appointment with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Kumar Vaishnaw. Rao alleged that Revanth Reddy has visited Delhi 71 times and met Union ministers at least 15 times.
CM's Meetings Under Scrutiny
Rao pointed out that the CM met Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar five times on urban development and Metro-related issues, met Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw three times, and held several meetings in Hyderabad. He questioned why Revanth Reddy needed Kishan Reddy's intervention for these meetings. Rao also found it absurd that a chief minister who has met the Prime Minister several times would claim there are obstacles in meeting Union ministers.
Allegations of Misleading the Public
The BJP leader alleged that the letter was written solely to mislead the public. He asserted that Congress has no genuine interest in infrastructure development and only has experience in scams and commission politics. Rao further alleged that the Congress government does not even know how to propose projects and has not submitted the pre-feasibility report, financial feasibility report, or detailed project report (DPR) for the Metro project.
Centre Not Blocking Metro Phase-2
Rao clarified that the Centre is not opposed to Metro Phase-2 and has never rejected the project. According to him, the delay is due to the state government's failure to provide the required technical documents. He emphasized that this is not a rejection by the Centre but a delay caused by the state government's incompetence.
