BRS Accuses Congress of Betrayal on 42% BC Reservation Promise
BRS Exposes Congress U-Turn on BC Reservations

In a significant political development, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has launched a fierce attack on the Congress government for allegedly backtracking on its promise to provide 42% reservations for Backward Classes in local bodies. BRS working president KT Rama Rao has vowed to expose what he calls the Congress party's complete U-turn on enhanced BC reservations.

The Betrayal Allegation

Speaking at a crucial meeting of BC leaders held at Telangana Bhavan on Monday, KTR expressed deep disappointment over the Congress government's failure to implement the promised 42% quota. The meeting saw participation from BC public representatives, former MLAs, MLCs, and senior party leaders who gathered to discuss what they termed as the systematic deception of Backward Classes.

KTR specifically referenced the 'Kamareddy BC Declaration' made before the 2023 assembly elections, accusing the Congress of trampling on all promises made to the BC community. He declared that the BRS would confront the Congress party at every possible platform for what he described as step-by-step deception of Backward Classes.

Rahul Gandhi's Claims Under Scrutiny

The BRS leader took particular exception to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's nationwide claims about implementing 42% reservation for BCs in Telangana. KTR challenged these assertions as completely false, stating that no such increase has actually been implemented in the state.

He demanded that if Rahul Gandhi were genuinely sincere about the 42% BC quota, he should use his position as Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha to ensure an immediate discussion on this critical issue in Parliament. KTR questioned why Rahul wasn't raising the matter in Parliament if the BJP government at the Centre was indeed not cooperating with the Congress government in Telangana on BC reservations.

Political Strategy and Demands

During the meeting, MLC Dr Dasoju Sravan delivered a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation detailing what he described as the fraud being committed by the Congress party in the name of 42% reservations.

KTR made several specific demands, including that BJP and Congress MPs elected from Telangana should raise this issue in the Lok Sabha during upcoming parliamentary sessions. He also suggested that Rahul Gandhi could introduce a Private Member's Bill if he were truly committed to the 42% BC quota.

The BRS working president didn't spare the BJP either, criticizing the party for what he called betraying BCs in all aspects - from reservations to fund implementation and the creation of an OBC welfare ministry. He remarked that people are closely observing the BJP's deception as well.

The BRS has now decided to take this issue directly to the people, planning to expose what they term as the injustice done to Telangana BCs by Congress leaders. This development signals the beginning of a major political confrontation over reservation policies in the state.
