Congress Leader Ramesh Chennithala Denounces LDF's Pre-Election Progress Report as a 'Public Deception'
In a sharp critique just two days before the crucial election, senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala has labeled the progress report released by the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government as nothing more than a facade designed to mislead the people of Kerala. Speaking at a news conference in Pathanamthitta, Chennithala asserted that the timing of this report reveals a government operating under the false assumption that no one would be able to challenge its claims effectively.
Housing Projects and Farmer Issues Under Scrutiny
Chennithala emphasized that the citizens of Kerala would assign no value to this allegedly deceptive document. He pointed to the LIFE Mission project, where numerous houses remain incomplete, as a prime example of governmental failure. "The reality is stark: it is impossible to construct a proper house for a mere four lakh rupees," he stated, accusing the administration of dishonesty in its promises to those affected by the Chooralmala landslide.
In contrast, Chennithala revealed that the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) has already identified suitable land for these announced houses and is committed to commencing construction promptly upon assuming power. He also launched a scathing attack on the Left's manifesto, describing it as a severe blow to farmers in hilly regions. The government's initial decision to establish a buffer zone at forest borders sparked widespread protests, leading to a revision, but Chennithala noted that while Tamil Nadu declared a zero buffer zone, Kerala has betrayed its agricultural community.
Allegations of Government Mismanagement and Future Promises
Further intensifying his criticism, Chennithala alleged that the chief minister displayed negligence by not even reviewing the manifesto before its release. He also accused the LDF government of protecting individuals implicated in the Sabarimala gold theft case, suggesting a hidden agenda to delay the chargesheet and ensure the accused receive natural bail. "If the UDF comes to power, we will ensure all accused in this case face the full force of the law and receive due punishment," he vowed.
On a progressive note, Chennithala welcomed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's observation that Kerala is ready for a female chief minister. He highlighted the Communist Party of India (Marxist)'s historical tendency to sideline capable female leaders like K R Gouri Amma and Susheela Gopalan. "In this era of gender equality, the Congress party will seriously consider elevating a woman to the chief minister's position in the future," he affirmed, signaling a commitment to inclusive leadership.
Confidence in Electoral Success and Data Privacy Concerns
Expressing unwavering confidence, Chennithala predicted that the UDF would secure 100 seats in the upcoming assembly elections. Additionally, he raised concerns about the misuse of voters' private information for sending campaign messages, which he condemned as a violation of data protection laws. He demanded stringent action against such practices to safeguard citizen privacy and uphold legal standards.
