CM Siddaramaiah Champions Humanity as Supreme Religion at Suttur Event
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah made a powerful statement on Sunday. He declared humanity as the greatest religion of all. The CM spoke at a seminar organized by Suttur Mutt near Mysuru.
Humanity Transcends All Barriers
Siddaramaiah stressed that humanity exists beyond religion, caste, creed, and sex. He urged people to love and respect all religions equally. The CM noted that every religion advocates mutual love and respect for human beings.
He specifically mentioned Basava Dharma. This philosophy comes from the 12th-century social reformer Basavanna. Siddaramaiah explained that no true religion preaches hatred toward others.
Praise for Basavanna's Teachings
The Chief Minister expressed his admiration for Basavanna. He highlighted the reformer's life philosophy and preaching. Basavanna worked tirelessly to build a discrimination-free and equal society.
Siddaramaiah recalled Basavanna's core principle. "Dayave Dharmada Mulvayya" means compassion is the root of religion. Basavanna believed any faith lacking compassion toward living beings is not a true religion.
The CM acknowledged Suttur Mutt's role. The mutt actively spreads Basavanna's philosophy, life, and ideologies to the public.
Suttur Mutt's Educational Contributions
Siddaramaiah also praised Suttur Mutt's historical work in education. He said the mutt constructed schools when education was denied to 85% of the population. The mutt launched mass-feeding initiatives alongside religious activities.
The CM emphasized education's importance for social change. He called it essential for building an equal and prosperous country.
