Coal Truck Hits House and Shop in Chatra, Driver Hurt

A speeding coal-laden truck crashed into a residential house and a grocery shop at Mishraul Bazaar under the Tandwa police station limits on Saturday around 4 am. The driver of the vehicle was heading towards Simaria when he lost control and rammed into the house and shop owned by Pradeep Tiwari. A major portion of the house and the store room of the shop were completely damaged under the impact. Goods worth several lakhs, besides household items and furniture, were buried under the debris. However, there were no major injuries reported among the residents or bystanders.

Officer in-charge of the Tandwa police station, Pappu Kumar Sharma, stated, "The truck has been seized. Action would be initiated against the vehicle owner and driver. The driver suffered some injuries and was sent to a hospital." The incident has raised concerns about road safety in the area, as speeding heavy vehicles frequently pass through residential neighborhoods. Local residents have demanded stricter enforcement of traffic rules and speed limits to prevent such accidents in the future.

Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances leading to the crash. The driver, whose identity has not been disclosed, is under medical observation. Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
