The Congress party has reminded former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy that the Bidadi township project was originally his brainchild. The party alleged that the campaign against the project is aimed at tarnishing the image of Chief Minister D K Shivakumar.
In a statement, Congress leaders said that Kumaraswamy, who now opposes the project, had himself conceived and promoted it during his tenure. They accused him of hypocrisy and playing political games at the cost of development.
The Bidadi township project, a major urban development initiative, has become a contentious issue in Karnataka politics. The Congress government is pushing ahead with the project, while Kumaraswamy and the Janata Dal (Secular) have raised objections.
Congress spokesperson said, "It is unfortunate that Kumaraswamy is now opposing a project he once championed. This shows his desperation to target Chief Minister Shivakumar."
The party urged the public to see through the political motives behind the opposition to the project, which aims to provide housing and infrastructure in the Bangalore region.
