Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta officially launched a series of development projects valued at approximately Rs 100 crore in the RK Puram Assembly constituency on Sunday. The comprehensive initiative targets significant improvements to local infrastructure and public amenities.
Focus on Roads, Community Spaces, and Parks
Under this substantial investment, authorities will construct and repair roads throughout the area. They plan to renovate old and dilapidated community platforms, commonly known as chaupals. Community centres will receive upgrades, while parks will undergo beautification efforts.
Additional Health and Safety Features
To promote public health, officials confirmed the installation of open gym equipment in parks. The projects also include constructing boundary walls at locations where they are deemed necessary for safety and security.
Criticism of Previous Administrations
During the inauguration ceremony, Chief Minister Gupta criticized previous governments for stalling development in the capital. She stated that Members of Parliament and MLAs previously had access to limited funds, which caused local development projects to remain inactive for years.
"Immediately after assuming office, our BJP government released a budget of nearly Rs 700 crore," Gupta emphasized. "This ensures development works worth Rs 10 crore in each Assembly constituency."
Dignitaries in Attendance
The launch event saw participation from several notable figures. MP Bansuri Swaraj attended, along with RK Puram MLA Shri Anil Sharma. Municipal Councillor Shri Dharamveer Singh and District President Shri Ravindra Chaudhary were also present at the programme.
This major infrastructure push represents a significant step toward enhancing the quality of life for RK Puram residents. The projects aim to address long-standing civic issues and provide modern, accessible public spaces for the community.
