Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was admitted to a private hospital in Thane on Saturday morning after complaining of fever, headache, and body pain. A team of doctors is monitoring his condition, hospital sources said.
Details of Hospitalization
The 62-year-old leader was taken to the Jupiter Hospital in Thane around 10 am. He is under the observation of a multi-specialty medical team. His vital parameters are stable, and he is responding well to treatment, according to a hospital statement.
Shinde had been feeling unwell since Friday evening and his condition worsened overnight, prompting his aides to rush him to the hospital. He is likely to remain under medical supervision for the next 24 hours.
Political Reactions
Several political leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, have wished Shinde a speedy recovery. Fadnavis visited the hospital to inquire about Shinde's health.
Meanwhile, state government officials said that all scheduled engagements of the Chief Minister have been postponed until further notice. The cabinet meeting planned for Monday may be rescheduled.
Health Update from Doctors
Dr. Sanjay Patil, head of the medical team attending to Shinde, said, "The Chief Minister is suffering from a viral infection. He has been advised complete rest and is being administered intravenous fluids and medication. We are confident he will recover soon."
Shinde's family members, including his son Shrikant Shinde, a Lok Sabha MP, are at the hospital. The Chief Minister's security has been heightened as a precautionary measure.
