AIADMK's EPS Declares DMK's Alliance-Breaking Attempts Have Failed
AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami stated on Monday that the DMK's persistent efforts to fracture the alliance between the AIADMK and the PMK have conclusively failed. Speaking during a campaign event in the Edappadi assembly constituency alongside PMK leader Dr Anbumani Ramadoss, Palaniswami delivered a forceful rebuke to the ruling party.
"Stalin's Dream Shattered," Says EPS
"Stalin's dream of breaking our alliance has been utterly shattered," declared Palaniswami, referring to DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. He confidently predicted that the upcoming election would signal the end of Stalin's administration. "This election will mark the definitive end of his rule," EPS asserted, setting a confrontational tone for the political battle ahead.
Grim Picture of Law and Order Under DMK Rule
Palaniswami painted a stark and troubling portrait of law and order in Tamil Nadu under the current DMK government. He cited alarming statistics, claiming there have been 18,000 sexual assault cases registered in the last five years, including nearly 7,000 cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
He directly attributed the high crime rate to the widespread proliferation of narcotics across the state. "The rampant spread of narcotics is the primary reason for this surge in criminal activities," he explained.
AIADMK's Pledge: Eradicate Ganja, Protect Vulnerable
Making a bold commitment, Palaniswami vowed that if the AIADMK returns to power, his government would completely eradicate ganja from Tamil Nadu within a mere three months. "If AIADMK returns to power, ganja will be eradicated within three months. Women and children will be decisively protected," he promised, highlighting public safety as a core campaign plank.
Contrasting Governance Records
EPS took the opportunity to highlight the initiatives of his previous government, contrasting them with the current administration's performance. He pointed to policies benefiting farmers and weavers, including:
- Subsidized electricity for agricultural purposes
- Comprehensive housing schemes for the underprivileged
- Targeted textile industry support policies
He pledged to not only continue but significantly expand these welfare measures. In sharp contrast, he accused the DMK government of failing to control inflation, leading to rising prices of essential commodities. He alleged the government was profiting from commissions while ordinary Tamil families endured economic hardship.
PMK Leader Anbumani Ramadoss's Strong Endorsement
PMK leader Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss provided a robust endorsement of Palaniswami during the joint campaign. He made a direct appeal to voters to ensure EPS's victory by the largest possible margin in the state. "Within two weeks, Edappadi Palaniswami will take charge as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu," Anbumani predicted confidently.
Anbumani echoed the criticism of the DMK's law and order record, accusing the party of presiding over an unprecedented wave of crimes against women and children. He argued that only the return of EPS's leadership could restore safety and security to the state.
Emphasizing EPS's Credentials and Achievements
Anbumani strategically emphasized Palaniswami's identity as a farmer with deep roots in agriculture, contrasting it with what he described as Stalin's alleged disconnect from the farming community. He promised that if the alliance came to power, it would launch new irrigation projects to boost the agricultural sector.
Furthermore, Anbumani underscored EPS's tangible administrative achievements from his previous term, notably:
- The establishment of 11 new medical colleges, enhancing healthcare infrastructure.
- The construction of 3,000 government schools, expanding educational access.
He contrasted this record with what he characterized as the DMK's failures in delivering quality education and healthcare services to the people of Tamil Nadu. The joint campaign appearance solidified the alliance's united front, presenting a clear alternative to the incumbent government based on governance, security, and development.
