Family of Three Killed in Tragic Canal Accident in Auraiya
A devastating road accident in Auraiya, Uttar Pradesh, has resulted in the deaths of three family members after their speeding car plunged into a deep canal. The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Achhalda police station late on Wednesday night, casting a pall of grief over the local community.
Details of the Fatal Journey
The victims were identified as Rajiv Kumar Porwal, aged 60, his wife Madhu Gupta, 55, and their 27-year-old son Shubham. Residents of the Bharthana police station area, the family was returning home by car after attending a pre-wedding ceremony in Etawah. According to police reports, the vehicle was traveling at high speed when it lost control and fell into a 20-foot-deep canal, leading to the tragic outcome.
Discovery and Recovery Efforts
On Thursday morning, passersby noticed a car tyre floating in the canal and immediately alerted local villagers. The villagers, in turn, informed the police, who arrived swiftly at the scene with a tractor and a JCB machine. With the assistance of the villagers, a rope was tied to the submerged car, and using the tractor and JCB, the vehicle was pulled out of the water.
Upon extraction, it was found that the car's doors were locked. The police had to break the glass to access the interior, where they discovered the three bodies. A water-damaged mobile phone was recovered from the vehicle, and the police removed the SIM card to contact saved numbers. This crucial step led them to a businessman from Shahjahanpur, who identified the car's owner, enabling the police to track down and notify the family.

The deceased couple, Rajiv and Madhu, are survived by four children, including two daughters. The loss has left the family and community in deep mourning, highlighting the sudden and tragic nature of the accident.
