Major Fire Incident at Ayodhya's Ram Navami Mahayagya Ceremony
A significant fire erupted on Saturday during a large-scale mahayagya (grand fire ritual) organized by Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh along the banks of the Saryu River in Ayodhya. The event was held to mark the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami, drawing a substantial crowd of devotees and participants.
Swift Emergency Response Prevents Casualties
Local authorities confirmed that approximately 1,251 havan kunds (sacrificial fire pits) had been arranged for the ceremony. When the fire suddenly ignited within the Yagyashala (ritual area), emergency services were immediately mobilized. Around a dozen fire tenders were deployed to combat the rapidly spreading flames.
Ayodhya Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Grover stated that the fire brigade successfully brought the blaze under control. He emphasized that no loss of life occurred due to the incident. Police officials coordinated the safe evacuation of all individuals present at the pandal (temporary structure), ensuring everyone was moved to safety without injury.
Minister's Statement and Event Details
In an official statement, Minister Dayashankar Singh described the incident, noting, "A fire suddenly broke out in the Yagyashala. The fire brigade team immediately brought it under control. There has been no loss of life of any kind in the incident." The minister's remarks highlighted the prompt action taken by emergency responders to manage the situation effectively.
The mahayagya was a prominent religious gathering, attracting a large number of participants who had assembled to observe Ram Navami rituals. Despite the alarming fire outbreak, the organized evacuation and rapid firefighting efforts prevented any harm to attendees. Authorities continue to investigate the exact cause of the fire, though initial reports suggest it was an accidental occurrence during the ceremonial activities.
This incident underscores the importance of stringent safety measures at large public events, particularly those involving open flames and significant crowds. The successful management of the emergency reflects the preparedness of local fire and police departments in Ayodhya.
