Patna's Gandhi Maidan Temporarily Closed for Eid and Bihar Diwas Festivities

In preparation for the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr prayers and the Bihar Diwas celebrations, the district administration in Patna has announced the closure of Gandhi Maidan to the public starting Tuesday. This measure prohibits entry for all residents, including morning and evening walkers, to facilitate event arrangements from March 22 to 24.

Event Preparations and Security Measures Underway

Extensive preparations are currently in progress at the venue. Workers are actively engaged in:

  • Levelling the ground to ensure a smooth surface for attendees.
  • Installing barricades and stages to manage crowd flow and host performances.
  • Setting up security infrastructure, including 128 CCTV cameras linked to the city control room for enhanced surveillance.

Additionally, a temporary police station has been established at Gandhi Maidan, complemented by medical teams, ambulances, and fire tenders to address any emergencies during the events.

Public Utility and Administrative Oversight

To support the large gatherings expected, the public health engineering department has provided water tankers and water ATMs. District Magistrate Thiyagarajan S M emphasized that the Gandhi Maidan will remain under administrative control until the commencement of the events, ensuring a safe and organized environment for all participants.

After the Eid prayers conclude, the venue will be opened to the public for the three-day Bihar Diwas celebration, allowing residents to partake in the cultural festivities. This closure highlights the administration's proactive approach to balancing religious observances with state celebrations, prioritizing public safety and logistical efficiency.
