The Ghazipur district administration has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) until April 30, effectively banning all protests, processions, and the entry of political delegations. This decision comes in the wake of tensions following the death of Nisha Vishwakarma in Kataria village on April 15.
Reason Behind the Prohibitory Orders
District Magistrate Anupam Shukla stated that the measure was necessary due to attempts by certain groups to politicize the incident and concerns over potential law and order disturbances. The order strictly prohibits any gathering, demonstration, candle march, or slogan-shouting across the entire district. Additionally, entry of individuals or delegations intending to protest has been restricted, including visits to Kataria village for expressing sympathy to the bereaved family.
Akhilesh Yadav's Planned Visit
On Friday, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav announced his intention to visit Karanda on April 29. However, under the current prohibitory orders, such political visits are not permitted. The administration has made it clear that no political activities or expressions of solidarity will be allowed in the affected area.
Police Warning Against Rumors
Police have issued a stern warning that anyone found spreading rumors related to the case will face legal action under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The authorities are keen to maintain peace and prevent any escalation of tensions in the region.
The prohibitory orders are expected to remain in effect until April 30, after which the situation will be reassessed. Residents and political workers have been advised to comply with the regulations to avoid any legal consequences.
