In anticipation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's public meeting in Hubballi this Saturday, significant traffic diversions and parking arrangements have been announced by the local police authorities. The event, which includes the inauguration of newly constructed houses under the Prime Minister's Housing scheme, is expected to draw large crowds, necessitating these measures for public convenience and safety.
Traffic Diversion and Parking Details
Police Commissioner N Shashikumar, in a press release, confirmed that the chief minister will arrive at Hubballi airport and proceed by road to Mantur Road for the inauguration ceremony. To manage the anticipated influx of vehicles, traffic will be diverted in the larger interest of the public, with specific parking zones designated for different routes.
Parking Arrangements for Various Routes
The police have outlined detailed parking instructions to minimize congestion:
- Vehicles from Gadag Road and Navalgund Road: These should move on the Gadag Ring Road and enter via New Mantur Road Cross to park at the open space in Sadaf Layout.
- Vehicles from Haveri Road: They should take the Ring Road via Bidnal Cross and RK Patil School Cross to park at Bharat Layout.
- Vehicles from Lakshmeshwar Road, Kalghatgi Road, and Dharwad Road: These can use the Gabbur Bypass and Gadag Ring Road via Bidnal Cross and RK Patil School Cross to park at Bharat Layout.
Additional Parking and Traffic Management
To accommodate overflow, additional parking spaces have been identified:
- Once Sadaf Layout parking is full, extra parking is available in the open space in front of the venue.
- Once Bharat Layout parking is full, additional parking is available behind the Karki Basaveshwara Temple.
Furthermore, arrangements have been made to ensure smooth vehicle movement on Gadag Ring Road from Bidnal Cross to RK Galli Cross until the event concludes. One-way traffic will be implemented on Gadag Ring Road from Mantur Cross to Sadaf Layout Cross, and movement of heavy vehicles from Gabbur Bypass to Bankapur Chowk is prohibited during this period.
Impact on Local Commuters
Residents and visitors in Hubballi are advised to plan their travel accordingly, as these diversions may cause delays. The police emphasize that these measures are temporary and aimed at facilitating the public meeting without disrupting daily life excessively. Commuters should follow the designated routes and parking instructions to avoid inconvenience.
This traffic plan underscores the importance of such events in Karnataka's political landscape, with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's visit highlighting ongoing development initiatives like the housing scheme. The police's proactive approach aims to balance public safety with the smooth execution of the event.
