Husband Held for Killing Tea Stall Owner in Deoghar

In a major breakthrough in the murder case of tea stall owner Mala Devi (60), killed near Kunda police station in Deoghar on May 19, police have arrested her husband Shiv Yadav (65) for allegedly murdering her over suspicion of an extramarital affair.

Police said they recovered a bloodstained knife used in the crime and blood-soaked clothes following the accused's confession.

DSP Reveals Motive Behind Murder

Addressing the media, DSP headquarters Kuldeep Kumar said the accused confessed during interrogation that he murdered his wife after allegedly finding her in an objectionable situation with his toto driver friend. Enraged by the incident, he allegedly attacked and killed her as his friend fled the scene.

Body Found Near Tea Stall

The body of Mala Devi was found lying in a pool of blood on May 19 at a tea stall located beside the main road near Kunda police station, which she operated herself.

Based on a written complaint lodged by the victim's son, Ranjan Kumar Yadav, police initially registered a murder case against unidentified persons.

Special Investigation Team Formed

Considering the seriousness of the case, a special investigation team was constituted on the instructions of SP Praveen Pushkar.

"During the course of investigation, police grew suspicious of the victim's husband on the basis of technical evidence, interrogation and other findings," the Dy SP said.

The accused remains in police custody as further investigations continue.
