Jai Ram Slams Congress Over 3-Year Celebration Amid Himachal Crisis
Jai Ram Questions Congress Govt's 3-Year Celebration

Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur has launched a scathing attack on the ruling Congress government in Himachal Pradesh for planning celebrations to mark three years in office while the state continues to grapple with multiple crises.

Disaster Management Act Makes Celebrations Inappropriate

The former chief minister expressed strong disapproval of the planned celebrations, noting that the Disaster Management Act remains in force across Himachal Pradesh due to the ongoing recovery from recent natural calamities. Thakur pointed out the irony that Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is using the same legislation to justify postponing panchayat elections while simultaneously preparing for political celebrations.

"I fail to understand why the government feels the need to celebrate three years in office under such adverse circumstances," Thakur stated during a press conference on Wednesday. He emphasized that even senior Congress leaders appear confused about what exactly the government has achieved worth celebrating.

Financial Crisis and Administrative Failures

Thakur detailed multiple areas where the state administration is failing its citizens. The state treasury has halted payments above Rs 10,000, creating significant difficulties for various sectors. Regular salary and pension disbursements are experiencing delays, while medical reimbursements—particularly crucial for senior citizens—are not being processed in a timely manner.

The employment situation has deteriorated significantly under the current administration, according to the opposition leader. Youth employment opportunities have dwindled, and outsourced staff members are being removed from their positions. Thakur claimed that over 15,000 people have lost their jobs since the Congress government took office.

Infrastructure and Basic Facilities Deteriorating

Beyond financial and employment concerns, Thakur highlighted the deteriorating condition of basic infrastructure across the state. Roads have become riddled with potholes, making transportation difficult and dangerous. The condition of basic facilities in rural areas was described as "miserable" by the opposition leader.

"Despite these pressing issues, the government is busy preparing for celebrations," Thakur remarked, questioning the priorities of the Sukhu administration. He accused the government of failing to deliver on its promise of "system change" that brought them to power.

Political Implications and Future Outlook

When questioned about the Bihar Assembly elections, Thakur suggested that the verdict sends a clear warning to the Congress party. He predicted that the Congress would face even stronger rejection in Himachal Pradesh during the next assembly elections.

"The Congress will be nowhere to be seen in the next Himachal Assembly election," Thakur declared confidently. He asserted that the people of Himachal Pradesh would "pack the Congress's bag" for coming to power on what he described as "fake guarantees."

The strong criticism from the opposition leader comes at a crucial time for the state government, which faces the dual challenge of managing disaster recovery while addressing growing public dissatisfaction with economic management and service delivery.
