Jaipur BLO's Suicide: Father Files FIR Alleging Harassment and Work Pressure
Four months after a Booth Level Officer (BLO) died by suicide in the Bindayaka area of Jaipur, his father has lodged an FIR on Thursday, alleging that harassment and excessive work pressure were the primary causes behind the tragic death. The incident has sparked concerns about the working conditions and mental health of government employees assigned to election-related duties.
Details of the Tragic Incident
Police have identified the deceased as Mukesh Kumar Jangid, who was working as a teacher and had been assigned BLO duties in the Jhotwara assembly constituency. According to official reports, Mukesh died by suicide on November 16, 2025, after allegedly jumping in front of a train. During a subsequent search following the incident, authorities recovered a suicide note and keys from his possession.
In the note, which was reportedly written three days prior to the incident on November 13, Mukesh stated that he was under severe stress due to SIR-related work and continuous pressure from his supervisor. He specifically alleged that SIR in-charge Sitaram repeatedly called him, created immense work pressure, and even threatened suspension, contributing to his mental anguish.
Police Investigation and Legal Action
Following a formal complaint by Mukesh's father, a case has now been registered at the Bindayaka police station. Police officers have confirmed that further investigation is underway to verify the allegations made in the suicide note and the FIR. The investigation aims to determine the extent of the harassment and work pressure, and whether any legal action should be taken against the supervisor or other officials involved.
This case highlights the critical need for better support systems and mental health resources for government employees, particularly those handling high-stress roles like election duties. As the probe continues, authorities are urging for a thorough examination of workplace practices to prevent such tragedies in the future.
