Patna: JD(U) leader Nishant Kumar on Sunday said he would begin his state tour from East Champaran district on May 3, marking the much-awaited start of his outreach programme.
“My ‘yatra’ will begin from East Champaran on May 3. The next day I have my scheduled meeting with the party’s functionaries and workers here at Patna,” Nishant told reporters after attending the birth anniversary celebration of Bhama Shah at the party’s state headquarters.
“During the yatra, I will meet workers and also take suggestions from them regarding the works which have to be taken up. I will try to get them implemented. The unfinished work of my father Nitish Kumar has to be completed, and I will inform them about the work done by him,” he said. He added he attended the event honouring Bhama Shah, a symbol of “nihswarth seva (selfless service)”.
Earlier, JD(U) national president Nitish Kumar, along with deputy CMs Vijay Kumar Chaudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav, legislature party leader Shrawan Kumar and other senior leaders, attended the function. It was Nitish’s first visit to the party’s state headquarters after he quit the post of CM. The programme was organised by the party’s traders’ and industry cell.
A notable moment occurred when a functionary sang in praise of Bhama Shah, drawing rhythmic applause from leaders on the stage.
