Jharkhand Electoral Office Introduces 'Book A Call' Feature for Voter Assistance

In a significant move to enhance voter services, Jharkhand Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) K Ravi Kumar has announced a new digital initiative for citizens experiencing issues with electoral roll mapping. The announcement came during an online review meeting held from Nirvachan Sadan with Deputy Electoral Officers from all districts across the state.

Direct Access to Booth Level Officers Through ECINET Portal

K Ravi Kumar emphasized that voters whose mapping from previous intensive revisions to the current electoral roll remains incomplete can now directly contact their Booth Level Officer (BLO) using the "Book A Call" feature available on the Election Commission of India's ECINET web portal. This feature allows electors to schedule calls with their designated BLOs to address queries and resolve issues related to the electoral roll.

"For any assistance related to mapping in the electoral roll, voters should contact their BLO using the 'Book A Call' feature of ECINET," stated K Ravi Kumar while speaking to media representatives. He explained that under this system, BLOs are mandated to return calls, listen to grievances, and provide resolutions within a strict 48-hour timeframe.

Comprehensive Voter Support System

The CEO highlighted several key aspects of this new service:

  • Prompt grievance resolution through seamless communication between citizens and BLOs
  • Availability for new voters who can directly connect with their Booth Level Officers
  • Mandatory callback provision if BLOs cannot immediately take voter calls
  • Enhanced accessibility during the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls

"Providing this service is extremely necessary to the voters and it is mandatory also," affirmed K Ravi Kumar, underscoring the importance of this initiative in strengthening democratic participation.

Additional Electoral Roll Management Measures

During the same meeting, the Chief Electoral Officer issued several important directives to improve electoral roll accuracy and accessibility:

  1. Expedited sticker distribution: Accelerating the work of pasting stickers containing polling station BLO information on voters' houses to ensure easy contact during the Special Intensive Revision
  2. Comprehensive ASDD lists: Preparing complete lists of Absent, Shifted, Death and Duplicate (ASDD) voters for all polling stations, with special attention to recording voters from displaced or demolished houses in the shifted list
  3. Consistent house numbering: Maintaining previously marked house numbers on sketch maps whenever possible, using notional numbers only for houses without existing numbers

The meeting saw participation from key electoral officials including Joint Chief Electoral Officer Subodh Kumar, Training Nodal Officer Dev Das Datta, Under Electoral Officer Sunil Kumar, along with Deputy Electoral Officers from all districts across Jharkhand.

This comprehensive approach to voter service enhancement represents a significant step forward in making electoral processes more accessible and responsive to citizen needs in Jharkhand.
