Kaccha Baniyan Gang Strikes Again in South Delhi

New Delhi: The notorious Kaccha Baniyan gang appears to be active again in the capital, with their latest target being a residence in south Delhi's Sarvodaya Enclave. The burglary came to light early Friday morning after the gang allegedly made off with cash and other valuables following a break-in.

Details of the Burglary

According to police, the robbers reportedly scaled the balcony of the house using a tree from the nearby Vijay Mandal park for support, indicating prior reconnaissance of the area. They then allegedly cut open the main door with a sharp-edged cutter to gain entry. Police received a PCR call about the incident around 6 am. The gang reportedly remained inside the house for nearly an hour.

DCP (south) Anant Mittal said, “A total of Rs 27,000 cash, a silver bowl, brass plates and a few household items were discovered to have been stolen.” While some reports claimed that a couple was held hostage, police denied this and said that the residents only discovered the theft when they woke up the next morning.

CCTV Footage Surfaces

CCTV footage from a camera installed inside the house later surfaced on social media, showing three masked men moving around the premises in ‘kaccha baniyan’. Clad in gloves and socks — considered a signature of the gang to avoid leaving fingerprints — they appeared equipped with multiple tools. The footage, timestamped around 3.30am, shows them moving through several rooms, opening doors and systematically rummaging through belongings.

A case has been registered at Malviya Nagar police station.
