In a swift operation, Karkala police solved a house burglary case within 24 hours of its registration, arresting two accused and recovering stolen gold. The accused have been identified as Anand Kulal, 40, from Palejeddu, Byarampalli village, Udupi taluk, and Jayaram Acharya, 54, a resident of Ajekar Marne village in Karkala taluk.
Details of the Burglary
According to the complaint filed by Shankar Kulal from Pattonji Katte in Karkala, unidentified burglars broke open the door of his house between 9:10 am on April 23 and 6 pm on April 24. The accused entered the house and stole gold ornaments kept inside a cupboard. The stolen items included one gold necklace weighing about 24 grams, three gold rings weighing about 3 grams, and other gold ornaments. The total estimated value of the stolen gold was around Rs 2.6 lakh.
Police Action
Based on the complaint, a case was registered at Karkala town police station under Sections 331(3), 331(4), and 305 of the BNS. Under the leadership of Karkala sub-divisional police officer Vijayaprasad, and guidance of police inspector Manjappa DR, along with PSIs Murulidhar Nayak, Shivakumar SR, and staff, the police traced and arrested the main accused, Anand Kulal. Police also arrested Jayaram Acharya, who had purchased the stolen gold.
Recovery and Legal Proceedings
The police recovered 39 grams of gold worth approximately Rs 5.6 lakh from the accused. Both accused have been produced before the court.
