Madikeri: The Karnataka state government has taken a significant step by allocating land and sanctioning Rs 1 crore for the construction of a building dedicated to Narayana Guru in Ponnampet. Virajpet MLA and chief minister's legal adviser AS Ponnanna made this announcement during a public event.
MLA Ponnanna Announces Government Decision
AS Ponnanna revealed the government's decision while speaking at a scholarship distribution and Pratibha Puraskar programme. The Billava Samaj Seva Sangha organized this event at the Kodava Samaj Hall in Ponnampet on Monday. Ponnanna emphasized the importance of unity in diversity during his address.
Community Request Leads to Government Action
Ponnanna explained that leaders of the Billava Samaj Seva Sangha approached him after his election as MLA. They submitted a formal request to the government for land to construct the building in Narayana Guru's name. The MLA then took the matter forward by meeting with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda.
Following these discussions, the government approved the allocation of land and the financial sanction. Ponnanna urged the community to make proper use of this opportunity. He called upon everyone to join hands and work together to construct the building successfully.
Spiritual Leader Appeals for Social Contribution
Vikhyathananda Swami of the Arya Ediga Mahasamsthan Mutt from Solur also addressed the gathering. The spiritual leader appealed to people to contribute positively to society. He asked everyone to dedicate a small portion of their time and earnings towards social development initiatives.
Scholarships Distributed to Students
During the programme, the organization distributed scholarships worth Rs 40,000 to deserving students. Association president BS Leelavathi was present on the occasion and participated in the distribution ceremony.
