Kejriwal slams BJP over Delhi power cuts in heat, BJP denies

New Delhi: AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on the BJP government, alleging that the entire national capital was experiencing power cuts amid scorching 45-degree Celsius heat. He claimed that the government had pushed Delhi back by 15 years in terms of power supply.

Kejriwal's Allegations

In a post on social media platform X, Kejriwal wrote, "In the scorching 45-degree heat... Delhiites are in distress. The lights are going out at any moment. Social media is flooded with complaints, but the BJP government is fast asleep. During our government, people in Delhi had forgotten about power cuts. Inverters had stopped selling. The BJP, as soon as it came to power, pushed Delhi 15 years back." He also shared a 2-minute 33-second video compilation of screenshots of complaints circulating on social media.

BJP's Response

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva hit back at Kejriwal, calling his claim "100 percent false." Sachdeva stated, "Delhi's electricity demand today reached approximately 8,039 megawatts in the afternoon, which was successfully met by the power distribution companies. The purpose of Arvind Kejriwal's post is only to mislead the people as well as the electorate of Punjab. In the last two days, no scheduled power cuts were implemented anywhere in Delhi. If there were any minor local faults, they were resolved in a very short time."

Sachdeva further alleged that Kejriwal used comments from fake accounts on social media to support his "false" claims.
